When I met Amador Rodriguez, desiring to elicit his neighbors’ reactions in regard to the name of their apartment building, I proposed him to create a micro-sidewalk. Diderot, Montaigne, Rabelais… are the names that stamp each building in the Bourgogne neighborhood under the form of didactic epitaphs. These names violently mark a common space with figures imposed from the so-called “common” culture.

“If you had the power, how would you re-name your building?” This question and the tens of responses garnered gave shape to an audial archive. This is broadcast in supplement to a series of photographs showing the buildings of the neighborhood dressed with plaques that usually permit them to be named.
